HOW IS DESTINOLOGY DIFFERENT THAN WESTERN & VEDIC ASTROLOGY?
First, let’s clarify the difference between Western and Vedic astrology. Western astrology is based on the tropical zodiac, which anchors itself to the seasons and the relationship between the Sun and Earth. In this system, the Spring Equinox will always mark the beginning of Aries, no matter how the stars shift in the sky. Vedic astrology, by contrast, uses the sidereal zodiac, which is tied directly to the physical constellations. Because the stars gradually shift — about one degree every 70 years — the sidereal zodiac “slides” over time, meaning many people have different placements in Vedic astrology than in Western. In the simplest terms: Western astrology aligns with the Earth’s seasons, while Vedic astrology aligns with the stars themselves.
