MODERN PRACTICES

The "Lions Gate" portal is a modern spiritual and New Age concept that combines the ancient significance of the heliacal rising of Sirius with astrological and numerological symbolism. This term does not have roots in ancient Egyptian tradition but has been adopted by contemporary spiritual practitioners. Here's how this connection developed:

Astrological and Numerological Symbolism

  • The Date of August 8 (8/8): The Lions Gate is said to "open" on August 8, a date that in numerology is considered highly powerful because the number 8 represents infinity, balance, and cosmic order. The repeated "8" on 8/8 is believed to amplify these energies.

  • Leo Season: The event takes place during the astrological period of Leo (July 23 - August 22). Leo, symbolized by the lion, is associated with the Sun, strength, and leadership. The "Lions Gate" refers to the sun being in Leo and its alignment with Sirius.

Connection to Sirius and Ancient Egypt

  • Sirius as a Spiritual Beacon: In ancient Egypt, Sirius was associated with the goddess Isis and the flooding of the Nile, which brought fertility to the land. Modern spiritual practices view Sirius as a gateway to higher consciousness and spiritual awakening, seeing it as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds.

  • Lions Gate Portal Concept: The "Lions Gate" is believed to be a time when the star Sirius, the Earth, and the Sun align in a way that opens an "energetic portal" for heightened spiritual activity. This alignment is thought to facilitate powerful spiritual transformations, personal growth, and the manifestation of desires.

Adoption into New Age Practices

  • New Age Interpretation: While the original Egyptian connection with Sirius was focused on agriculture and the natural cycle, New Age practitioners have reinterpreted this alignment as a moment of spiritual significance. The term "Lions Gate" has become popular in the New Age community as a time for meditation, intention-setting, and connecting with higher consciousness.

  • Symbolism of the Lion: The lion, associated with the zodiac sign Leo, adds to the symbolism of power, courage, and leadership. These traits are believed to be especially potent during the Lions Gate, making it a time to harness these energies for personal and spiritual empowerment.

The "Lions Gate" as a New Age symbol combines ancient Egyptian reverence for Sirius with modern astrological and numerological interpretations. While it draws inspiration from the Egyptian connection between Sirius and the Nile's life-giving flood, the idea of a "portal" and its association with the lion is a contemporary concept. This reinterpretation reflects the blending of ancient knowledge with modern spiritual practices, aiming to create a moment of significance for personal and collective transformation.

THE EGYPTIAN ROOTS

The ancient Egyptian story surrounding the alignment of the star Sirius, known to them as *Sopdet* (or *Sothis* in Greek), with the harvest in August is deeply intertwined with their agricultural practices and religious beliefs.

Sirius and the Nile Flood

Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, held great significance in ancient Egyptian culture. Its heliacal rising (when it first becomes visible on the eastern horizon just before sunrise after being hidden by the sun's glare) typically occurred in mid-July in ancient times, which roughly coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile River. This event was crucial as the inundation of the Nile deposited fertile silt on the land, making it possible for the Egyptians to grow crops.

The heliacal rising of Sirius was seen as the harbinger of this flood, and thus, it marked the beginning of the Egyptian New Year, known as *Wepet Renpet* ("Opening of the Year"). This flooding was essential for the survival of Egyptian civilization, as it provided the water and nutrients necessary for a successful harvest.

Sopdet and the Goddess Isis

Sirius was personified as the goddess *Sopdet*, who was later associated with Isis, one of the most important deities in Egyptian mythology. Isis was the wife of Osiris and mother of Horus, embodying fertility, motherhood, and magic. The alignment of Sirius was thus seen as a divine signal, with Isis (Sopdet) weeping for her dead husband Osiris. Her tears were believed to cause the Nile to flood, bringing life to the land and ensuring a bountiful harvest.

Cultural and Religious Significance

This celestial event was not only a practical indicator for agricultural activities but also a time of religious celebration. The Egyptians would hold festivals to honor the gods, especially Isis, and to give thanks for the expected prosperity brought by the flood. The alignment of Sirius and the Nile flood became a symbol of renewal, life, and the cyclical nature of existence.

August Harvest

Although the heliacal rising of Sirius traditionally occurred in July, the effects of the flood would be felt in the following months, with the harvest season typically occurring around August or later, depending on the timing of the inundation. The connection between Sirius and the harvest highlights the importance of this star in the Egyptians' understanding of time, agriculture, and the divine.

In summary, the alignment of Sirius with the harvest season in August was a critical event in ancient Egypt, symbolizing the divine blessing of the Nile's floodwaters, which were essential for agricultural success and the overall prosperity of the civilization.

This is a serious question for astrologers to consider for those born of c-sections. There are many considerations, both physically and metaphysically for rectification. Here are the main points to consider:

How do I find my exact time of birth? It is said in Astrology that the ASC is determined when we transition from darkness to light. So in theory, as soon as the womb was opened and light was witnessed for the first time by the native, then that is the exact time of birth.

How does the medical staff decide the time of birth? It’s conditional. Since doctors are not astrologists, it is most likely that the recorded time of birth is some time much later than when they make the first incision to the stomach, and then further into the womb. Depending how long surgery takes, the time of birth could be much later than when the native first saw the light. Every birth team is unique at every birth, and since most parents are not going in paying attention to the clock, the recorded time of birth is based on what the medical team decides.

Were the medical stuff dutiful or negligent recording my time of birth? This is a consideration for everyone, and not unique to c-section births.

Was the c-section planned? If it was planned, one might argue that the native came into the world not at the date and time he/she/they wanted. This pushes the boundaries of metaphysics. If metaphysically we choose when to arrive, then in the womb we are waiting for that exact moment for the ASC to be right for us in this lifetime. Being that the c-section was planned, the time and quite possibly the date that the native had planned is potentially completely different. Of course, you’d have to believe that you are actually the one in control coming from another plane of existence into this one for this to be true.

Was the c-section due to an emergency? Then your birth was imminent, so this now is not a consideration and it should be treated as a natural birth; with consideration to the opening of the womb we mentioned in the first paragraph.

Metaphysical v. Physical Reality Is it true that all natives with planned c-sections should always get a rectification? If you believe it metaphysics, and also that you are the one that decides the date and time, then maybe. You could go ahead and use Electional Astrology and pick your own Date and Time. But without knowing all the the subtle nuances of this sort of astrology practice you may spend most of your life searching.

In the physical reality, it is very likely that the day and time you were born is very close to the truth about you. But when it come to the ASC and your Moon placement, both dependent on time of birth, it can make or break you when you are diving into learning about yourself through astrology. The best advice then is to work with a practicing astrologist who is familiar with rectification. Without a professional doing a full on analysis with you, you may never get to know your true Ascendant.

In another post I made on my blog, I talked about the importance of Aspect Pattern Astrology and the Cradle Aspect Pattern that occurs during the Mars/Uranus conjunction. In this post I am going to extend it to your own natal charts for the purposes of predictive astrology.

Beyond what is currently thought and talked about regarding astrological aspect patterns in natal charts, using Chart Aspect Patterns as overlays in a transit composite to the natal chart only makes sense. We already use transit aspects to natal charts, so by extension, we should be able to use any full aspect pattern and the energies it possess to gain further insight in our predictive astrology work. Any chart aspect pattern created in the heavens in transit then can be used with this same methodology. But since I have not seen others readily talking about this, it may be a new development in predictive chart interpretation.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE CRADLE ASPECT PATTERN

Huber, the Father of Aspect Pattern Astrology, tells us the cradle is benefic and protective in nature. Whatever is contained within the cradle is where the native feels safe. Everything outside the cradle is rife with contention; it’s foreign, unexplored, and unknown territory. And even though the native will cling to their zone of protection, their purpose is to leave the cradle to explore, grow, mature and evolve their consciousness.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Chart Patterns are vibrant objects in themselves. The Cradle is especially interesting because of the protective zone it creates for the native. Also, in hopes to incite more astrology researchers to embrace Aspect Pattern Transit composites in their own work. Since this is a new discovery for me and most probably will be for others too, I hope we can all gain valuable insight not only during the Mars/Uranus conjunction transit, but also in additional aspect pattern transits as well.

During this time I will be journaling my own experiences to look for harmonious integrated alignments with the energies of the overlaid pattern, and if this interests you, I encourage you to do the same.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN COMPOSITE CHARTS

Since there are no programs to my knowledge that are doing anything like this, I am creating these charts by using ‘layers’ in an image editing software program.

Figure 1

This first image (Fig 1) is of the Cradle aspect itself, in perfect degree conjunction between Mars and Uranus at 26Tau19. You’ll have to take my word for it because I’ve removed all the unnecessary objects and other information since I will be using the natal chart to line things up. You will have to experiment with your own programs to best do this yourself.

The most potent energy from this cradle aspect will be during the four degree orb of Mars before the exact conjunction and the four degrees after, all of which will last about nine days. The aspect pattern remains in perfect form throughout the entire eight degree orb of Mars and all the planets are remain between 1-5 degrees from each other.

Next I want to overlay the aspect pattern chart on top the natal chart, to see what in the natal configuration will be in the cradle. So I’ve created a chart (Fig 2) with the natal points on the inside and just the planets of the cradle on the outside.

Next, and simply (after many experiments in merging different versions of the two), here is the next chart, with both together (Fig 3).

Figure 3

As you can see from the union of the Mars/Uranus cradle and this natal chart, we can start making connections with Huber’s work. To take it one step further, I’m including the transit aspects to the natal chart (fig 4). One more layer of analysis that is available.

So I'm pretty saavy in making my own digital charts, but you can do all of this with pen on paper too if that makes it easier for you. Then all you have to do is check your activations! Happy hunting and good luck!

Thanks for reading.
